Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am a first year student at Amherst College. I am a prospective major in Psychology, but I also have a wide range of other academic interests including English, French, and Marine Sciences, so I hope to double major, but I am not sure in what yet!
On campus, I am involved with the Sabrinas, one of two all-female a cappella groups, WAMH, our student-operated radio station, the Outing Club, the Culinary Club, and Partners for Animal Welfare (PAW). I perform regularly at Marsh Coffee Haus, a student run open mic, and sing both cover and original songs. Additionally, I am a Peer Advocate for Sexual Respect, part of a small group of students who work to educate and inform the Amherst Community on issues of sexual violence and bring awareness to and promote sexual respect. We plan and run a number of workshops and events, both for the general community as well as specific events for survivors within our community.
I really love Amherst College, and I am eager to share my experiences and knowledge about the school and its academics, extracurriculars, environment, and anything else you might want to know! As someone who recently went through the college process, I remember how stressful, confusing, and overwhelming it can be, so I hope to be a resource you can use to get more clarity and information on the process in general as well as Amherst College. During our anywhere briefing, my goal is to provide you with honest, accurate, and helpful information about Amherst College and hopefully give you a unique perspective and insight into student life that you wouldn't necessarily be able to get online or from a college guide book. Schedule an anywhere briefing with me or book a tour if you are in town to find out more information that will hopefully help you determine if Amherst College is the right place for you! :)
